Regardless of where you build in the Kamloops region you will be governed by the Thompson Nicola Region District (TNRD). Some prospective clients feel because they are building in the back country that permits are not required. This of course is TOTALLY FALSE and the buying public can easily check this by calling the TNRD building dapartment in Kamloops. Building permits should be taken out as well as septic and well permits.

If you are purchasing an "Old Timer" chances are the structure pre-dates TNRD files. However, extensive renovations and new septic systems should still be done only with permits. A simple phone call could save you thousands of dollars in the end. Remember to take the time to call first!
