The foundation of the cabin is a concrete footing on top of which is a permanent wood foundation. There is a 6' crawl space that is insulated and wrapped in poly.
This style of construction is accepted across all of North America and used extensively in colder regions where an insulated wall is required or desired. The wood foundation is made of PWF which is lumber that has been pressure treated to Canadian Standards, 3rd party inspected (and stamped) and has a lifetime equivalent to the structure above it as confirmed by extensive testing by both Canadian and American agencies.
The foundation was constructed by Jazel Enterprises who happens to also own cabin 19 at the resort and was inspected by the TNRD prior to backfilling. The company that I work for manufactures and sells a very large quantity of this PWF lumber throughout western Canada and it continues to gain in popularity over concrete basements which are cold and difficult to wire, plumb and finish. I hope this answers your questions. You can also refer to website www.woodfoundations.com for more info s showed up today.
